Within the MALiAp project excavation took place in the immediate surroundings of the Iron Age site of Gradišče above Knežak. The project focuses on the archaeological landscape as a whole and, in this case, on the economic hinterland of the Iron Age town. By excavating a cairn, one of hundreds in a cairnfield, we want to find out for what purpose these cairns were created. Are they part of as of yet unknown agricultural activity, or something completely different?
